• Siding with Hornsent, however, grants a different prize: the Ash of War: Swift Slash. This skill is exclusive to the new Backhand Blades and is a spectacle to behold. It propels you forward in a blur, creating a vacuum that tears through enemies. It can even be charged for devastating effect. Choosing this path means embracing a high-dexterity, acrobatic fighting style.

This was merely the first fork in the road. Leda's paranoia soon created another schism, this time with Sir Ansbach, the former servant of the reviled Lord Mohg. Once again, I was the arbiter. Do I trust Leda's growing zealotry, or do I place my faith in Ansbach's complicated redemption?

My choice here felt even more significant because the rewards were so distinct.

• Choosing to aid Leda against Ansbach nets you the Retaliatory Crossed-Tree Talisman. This talisman is a dream for duelists and highly mobile fighters, boosting the power of attacks executed immediately after a dodge roll or backstep. It rewards precise timing and fluid movement.

• But oh, the rewards for supporting Sir Ansbach are tantalizing. You don't just get one item; you receive a powerful duo: the Obsidian Lamina scythe and the Furious Blade of Ansbach incantation. The incantation is a thing of brutal beauty—a chargeable lunge that coats your blade in Bloodflame, dealing fire damage and stacking bleed with every slash. My journey then led me to the windswept crags of Jagged Peak, where the colossal corpse of a dragon houses the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. Here, I met the mysterious Dragon Communion Priestess. Following her quest with the boisterous warrior Igon seemed straightforward, promising the ultimate prize: the Priestess Heart for a magnificent dragon transformation and the mighty Flowerstone Gavel hammer. Yet, through whispers and Thiollier's questline, I discovered a secret, nocturnal alternative.

By offering the Priestess Thiollier's Concoction under the cover of night, a different fate unfolds. She falls into a deep slumber. Upon defeating the dreaded dragon Bayle and returning to her, she bestows a different set of gifts: the Dragonbolt of Florissax incantation, a powerful buff for you and your allies that bolsters damage negation, and perhaps more importantly, the Ancient Dragon Florissax Spirit Ash. To have the Priestess herself fighting by my side, wielding her gavel and casting protective spells, was a companionship more valuable to me than any transformation.

The most poignant choices, however, involved the enigmatic Iris of Grace and Iris of Occultation. These consumables are keys to fate, and I held two of each. The first pair led me to Swordhand of Night Jolán, the sellsword bound to Count Ymir.

• Offering her the Iris of Grace yields Jolán's Spirit Ash. But the story doesn't end there. A hidden path behind the Shaman Village leads to Rabbath's Rise, where you can find a puppet of her sister, Anna. Here, you can merge their spirits, upgrading the ash to the powerful Jolán and Anna duo. It's a quest for completionists.

• Presenting the Iris of Occultation takes a darker turn, but rewards you with the elegant Sword of Night katana. Its skill, Witching Hour Slash, unleashes unblockable shadow blades—a silent, deadly art perfect for a nightblade assassin.

The final iris decision tested my mercy. I found Fire Knight Queelign, first as a fiery invader, then as a broken knight in the drained Church District of Shadow Keep. His fate was in my hands.
